5 Ways for Mothers to Save Money on Their Children

It shouldn’t be a surprise to say that having a baby costs a lot of money! You will have to begin saving months in advance before you can adequately prepare for your newborn baby. But thankfully, there are some ways for expecting mothers to save money during pregnancy and after the birth of their child. Here are 5 ways for mothers to save money on their children.

1. Hold off on buying baby clothes. This is important. Kind of like a don’t count your chickens before they hatch type of thing. Don’t buy baby clothes until your child is born. You really don’t know how big he or she is going to be, and think that many babies go through growth spurts at crazy intervals during the first couple of months.

2. Think big when it comes to diapers. Diapers can add up! Instead of buying them as needed, stock up on the 228-count cartons and your local wholesale store. You can save up to $170 a year by keeping this in mind.

3. Talk over the phone with your pediatrician, save yourself on $20 upfront costs. By discussing symptoms over the phone with your pediatrician, you’ll most likely be able to get a diagnosis without having to go into the exam room. Those $20 upfront costs at the doctor's office can add up.

4. Opt into baby food newsletters and coupons. Needless to say, this is a big saver for mothers everywhere. The savings will literally save your life when it comes to managing your finances.  One of the best shops to making savings is by using their coupon codes.

5. Buy baby furniture that has dual usage. Walmart offers some baby furniture that has multiple uses. Their Ameriwood Changing Table/Dresser Combo ($90) is a very good value, along with the One Step Ahead Euro II Highchair ($100), which can be converted from a booster seat into a regular chair. Some cribs can also change into toddler beds for when they are a bit older.

So those are just a few ways for mothers to save money on their children.
